Amazing kayaking experience through the Salt Marsh!

What a neat tour that is offered through Huntington State Park!   We launched at Oyster Creek Landing and paddled through a maze of sea grass to the boardwalk at the nature center at the Park.   But first the guides used casting nets to show us the creatures living in the marsh – squid, shrimp, and shrimp.  I’ve never seen a shrimp right out of the saltwater before! Then we got in the water in our recreational kayaks.  It was really fun paddling at low tide where we could barely see above the spartina cordgrass.  There were so many birds –  herons, egrets, wading shore birds  –  that we got to see close up.  A great and knowledgeable guide from the Park paddled with us along with the crew from Black River Outdoors (the park partners with them for this tour using there kayaks). I’d love to check out some of their other tours… definitely on our next trip!
